We have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You! (2 Chronicles 20:12)
COMPLEX
Some situations are so complex. And there is someone who knows our weak spot. He attacks us when we are vulnerable. He suggests doubt, he stirs up evil thoughts, he darkens our minds, and in every way he is seeking to loosen our hold on God.
๐ Do you recognize that? Can you tell me how you have learned to handle it?
This morning I read Today's Verse and that brought me back to the Bible. I read Psalm 143 and - how amazing - it became my own personal prayer to God. So here is my decision: I take time to study Psalm 143. I ponder the work of His hands.
O LORD, hear my prayer. In Your faithfulness, give ear to my plea; in Your righteousness, answer me ... for the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has smitten my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead. Psalm 143:1-3

๐ Are you finding God in the Psalms?
I find that when hard places come my way and I turn my eyes to God, I am helped. I am lifted. I am supported. "...our eyes are upon You!" (2 Chronicles 20:12) Thankfully, I do not know a whole lot about depression. But I know enough about life's sad encounters that my first impulse is to turn my spiritual eyes on Him when sad things happen. I always find Him waiting for me as I run to Him.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAlways find Him waiting. Thanks Avis, for writing that!
VerwijderenWhen satan tries to remind me of everything I have done wrong, remind him of everything Jesus did RIGHT on my behalf.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThank you so much Karen. I want to blog about that once. About all those things that Jesus has done for us!
VerwijderenI find I do better if I avoid watching the horrible things on the news, also angry things, even watching a sorrowful or raging comedian on youtube, for example. It all goes in and we start to live in what we choose to take in.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat is a good idea: avoid watching horrible things. Thank you.
VerwijderenThis post was for me today. Thank you for sharing it. I am struggling with negative impacts on my heart and spirit lately, from people, media, social media, etc. and I am having to pull back and retreat from the world a bit for a while. I am only visiting my trusted friends here in "blogland", and I find such joy and peace here. Thank you for being a part of my world of happiness.
