BROKEN PIECES

What good are the broken pieces of your life? There is an artist who takes the broken pieces of china and glues them together in various forms to make incredible art.

All of us have broken pieces in our lives and sometimes we can't see HOW those broken pieces will be used to make something beautiful. Sometimes we feel that our efforts to repair and rebuild are futile. Some of our lives even seem to be shattered beyond repair.

But, those seemingly worthless pieces can be put together and used to fashion something beautiful and something that can be used to help others.

Whether you're broken as a result of divorce, abuse, neglect, alcohol, or drugs, know that your pieces can be salvaged and used for good in your life, and in the lives of many others.

Something beautiful, something good
All my confusion He understood
All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife
But He made something beautiful of my life

If there ever were dreams
so lofty and noble
They were my dreams at the start
And the hopes for life's best were the hopes
That I harbored down deep in my heart
But my dreams turned to ashes
And my castles all crumbled, my fortune turned to loss
So I wrapped it all in the rags of my life
And laid it at the cross.

Chorus:
Something beautiful, something good
All my confusion He understood
All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife
But he made something beautiful of my life
He made something beautiful of my life...of my life.

  • Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted. And binds up their wounds.
  • II Corinthians 1:3,4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
  • Psalm 34:7  The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
  • Hebrews 4:15,16  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

This is why Jesus came!
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised (Luke 4:18)

  6. Thank you for this post. I recall Henri Nouwen's book The Wounded Healer, where he explains how by sharing our broken places we can be helpful to others, and I find this to be true. My church has a Celebrate Recovery group where many hurting people gather to find healing.
