7 BIBLE VERSES FOR THOSE WHO FEEL BROKEN

Child: Mommy, these crayons are broken. Can I throw them away?
Mommy: Broken crayons still color.

As a child, whenever a crayon broke, I would throw it away with disgust, needing the perfection of the moment to create my latest design. As an adult I have learnt that even broken crayons colour. ... Every adult I meet has a story that has defined them. (Source: Amanda Viviers)

Broken things. Shattered lifes, broken dreams. Very familiar to me. But Jesus heals the broken. Transforms them into new creatures for the glory of God!

Jesus... doesn't leave us broken.
JOHN GILL:

Christ is a physician; many are the diseases of his people; he heals them all by his blood, stripes, wounds; and among the rest their broken hearts, which none can cure but himself; hearts broken by the word, as a hammer, accompanied with a divine power; which have a true sense of sin, and godly sorrow for it; are truly contrite, such as the Lord has a respect unto, dwells with, and accepts of; and these he heals, and only he, by pouring in oil and wine, as the good Samaritan; or by applying pardoning grace and mercy to them, streaming through his blood; and bindeth up their wounds; or "griefs" (n); and so gives them ease, health, and peace, for which they have abundant reason to call upon their souls to bless his name and sing his praise; see Psalm 103:1; compare with this Isaiah 61:1.

7 BIBLE VERSES FOR THOSE WHO FEEL BROKEN

  1. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147
  2. And he that sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said to me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. Rev. 21:5
  3. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17
  4. The LORD is near to them that are of a broken heart; and saves such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivers him out of them all. Psalm 34:18,19
  5. The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. Isaiah 61:1-3
  6. I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment. (Ezekiel 34:16)
  7. Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects: therefore despise not you the chastening of the Almighty: For he makes sore, and binds up: he wounds, and his hands make whole. He shall deliver you in six troubles: yes, in seven there shall no evil touch you. (Job 5:18)

God is going to do something new! I believe that He is going to restore. He is working in our brokenness. He will make a way through it.

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward. For you have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. (Hebrews 10:35-37)

  3. Jesus is near to the brokenhearted! I love that promise. And there is no place safer than to sit at Jesus' feet, as Mary of Bethany did.

  5. DearAritha - wonderful scriptures. Oddly (well not so odd at all) I am studying a wonderful book "Guide your Mind - Guard your Heart - Grace your Tongue" by Carol Burton McLeod. She reminds us to fight the lies of the evil one with God's word. Your post was just more confirmation of the importance of knowing God's word - which is the Sword of the Spirit. Thank you for these verses. God Bless

I always loved the sets of Crayola crayons and seeing all those colors. It would be a great project to take each of those 64 colors and wrap them with a scripture about healing. Inspiring post and full of the colors of God's rainbow!! Blessings and love!
