WHEN THE STORMS COME

God's guidance is almost always step-by-step; He does not show us our life's plan all at once. Sometimes our anxiousness to know the will of God comes from a desire to peer over God's shoulder to see what His plan is. What we need to do is learn to trust Him to guide us. (Jerry Bridges)

When the storms come,
and our trees of delight are bare and leafless,
when He strips us of the comforts
to which His love has accustomed us
– or more painful still, –
when He leaves us alone in the world,
to mourn the absence of the chief desire of our heart;
– to sing to Him then,
to bless and praise
and laud His dear name then,
this is the work of His free grace only.

  4. The Lord is in control, and we have to remember that if He could have taken us another way He would have. When the Lord was in the storm He slept.
